Laura and Rich’s Coastal Wedding
An intimate wedding by the sea
Rich proposed to Laura the 29th March 2018 on Fistral Beach as the sun was setting. Beautiful.
Deciding that they didn't want to have a long engagement they started their wedding planning and they both wanted a small and intimate autumn/winter wedding by the sea.
"We chose our venue for several reasons, the ceremony would be held at the front of the hotel with beautiful sea views over Porth beach and our wedding breakfast equally had the same stunning views."
The hotel offers a choice of reception rooms, the one Laura and Rich chose was a lovely small room that allowed them to have a t-shaped banquet table, perfect for their intimate wedding.
"Our wedding coordinator was so passionate about supporting us, making sure we had the personal wedding we wanted. We were in safe hands, which is a big part of what you look for when choosing a wedding venue."
Oliver Harris Photography
Their wedding photographer was Oliver Harris, Laura's Step-Dad had met him the year before on Perranporth Beach, Oliver asked if he could take a photograph of their family dog Clancy.
"He took it was a stunning action shot. It was an easy decision to contact Oliver and ask him to be our wedding photographer. We loved that photography is his passion, he was so relaxed, had so many fresh ideas, listened to our creative ideas and made us feel calm on the day. And on the day he took the most amazing photographs"
The Wedding Theme was Paris! très belle
Laura and Rich adore Paris, so decided early on that would be their theme. Even their home is inspired by Paris! Occasions Covered helped create their Parisian look and supplied all the sashes for the chairs and tables.
Family and friends get creative!
Rich's Mum did the flower arrangements, Laura's Mum made the wedding cake and their best friend Lolly made beautiful bunting in a Paris style.
The couple also chose to incorporate a few games throughout the day, they had a bride and groom quiz at the wedding breakfast, which all enjoyed and encouraged lots of laughter. Plus their favourite Christmas game of Mr and Mrs
"We did this using our shoes as paddles and my brother (the brides' brother) was the host"
A Dress from Bridal Gossip
Laura first met Caroline from Bridal Gossip at an Art of Weddings, Wedding Fair in Wadebridge and instantly felt comfortable with her, and she happily made an appointment to meet again at her Bridal shop.
"I was initially nervous about purchasing a wedding dress, it is such a special moment for any bride and it was important to me to have someone helping me that I felt comfortable with"
an amazing wedding dress experience
"Caroline provided an amazing wedding dress experience, we all had a glass of Prosecco, and I was encouraged to try many different types of dresses and I never felt pressured or rushed.
Caroline also supported Laura about considering different hairstyles, flowers and even got a sash colour of our bridal party to see how it would all come together."
Laura ended up liking two wedding dresses and couldn't make a decision.
a lovely touch
"Caroline emailed me that evening to tell me how beautiful I looked in my dresses. I knew that I would not go to another Bridal shop as Caroline had been so amazing and booked my second appointment, where I chose my beautiful dress.
She really included my family and friend making it a cherished memory for all to treasure. On collection of my wedding dress, Caroline had 'the one' beautifully displayed on a mannequin and it took my breath away"
Laura wanted a lace wedding dress to match the Paris theme
"I had 3/4 length sleeves, a beautiful vintage jewelled belt and a gorgeous layered lace train, which was longer than I ever imagined having. It had so much beautiful detail in the lace and fitted perfectly.
I had a lovely seamstress called Jenna Goldsmith who made a loop for the train so in the evening it could be taken up to make dancing much easier!
I also chose a lovely laced floral headpiece for my hair, as I needed something beautiful and simple, which didn't take away from the wedding dress"
favourite part of the day
"We both agree that our favourite part of the day was when the photographer took us to Porth Beach for photographs after we had got married, when we had some time alone and really had time to cherish the day.
The morning of the wedding we had woken up to a magnificent thunderstorm and were both so happy that the sun came out, with the most glorious moody skies and it made for perfect photographs."
Our tips when planning a wedding is to remember that it is both of your days and to go with what you both feel is right for the day. It is really important to not overthink each decision, to be creative as you can and to take time for each other.
