Rachel and Rob’s Cornish Heritage Wedding
incorporating their Cornish heritage into their big day
Rachel and Rob knew from the outset that they didn’t want a church wedding or a hotel so the search to find what they did want began by going to local wedding fairs and researching approved wedding venues and then narrowed their search down by locality and discovered Heartlands.
“Heartlands appealed to us as a venue, the film room is quirky and we also wanted to incorporate our Cornish heritage. We chose to have the reception in a nearby village hall, Chacewater hall had the right amount of space for us with facilities on-site.”
The hall was transformed by Unique Designs by Tina using ceiling decorations hanging from the open trusses, table decorations, wall drapes and the very beautiful wedding cherry blossom trees which gave their reception the “wow factor.”
After meeting with several photographers, initially at wedding fairs and researching on eeek! to find a style of photography they wanted.
“We settled on the documentary/unposed pictures we then arranged meetings and made our decision based on how well we got on with them. A piece of advice we were given was “ your spending your whole day with them, you need to get on!”
Theme. classy, aesthetic, relaxed
“From the outset, we wanted to have a relaxed feeling to the day with a classy but simple aesthetic. As we met with various suppliers the theme developed and became incorporated into the table designs, stationery, cake and venue aesthetic.”
Rachel and Rob met Davies Catering at a trade show they were impressed with the menu choices and options available including big pan catering to buffets or set menus to sharing meals.
“Martin and Charlotte are lovely people and were so accommodating with what we felt were not the easiest dietary requirements!
We ended up picking a three-course menu for our breakfast consisting of Ham Hock Terrine to start, Chicken supreme for Main and an Amazing chocolate torte. In the evening we decided to have chilli and rice.”
The Wedding Cake by Emily Hankins
Rachel loves to bake so she wanted their wedding cake to be something special and then found Emily on eeek! and just loved her work.
“When we met up with her we discussed our wedding theme and she created some designs from there.”
Emily created a three-tier cake, the bottom two layers were covered in marble icing and the top was pale grey a ‘frame’ was then created in silver leaf with a charcoal background and cherry blossoms painted inside.
“I could not have been happier with the final cake, it fitted the day perfectly. It was a bit of a shame to cut it up but it helped her lemon sponge is also amazing!!”
Rachel was introduced to Bridal Gossip after meeting with Tina from Unique Designs by Tina.
The search for the perfect dress
Rachel arranged appointments at a selection of Bridal shops and Bridal Gossip just happened to be the last appointment of her mammoth wedding dress shopping week!
“I had tried on lots of dresses by this point but still hadn’t found ‘the one’. Caroline was really welcoming to my whole party, we had a good chat about what I wanted in a dress before looking through some styles and trying on the ones I liked.
The experience at Bridal Gossip was relaxed and fun and Caroline offers a great selection of dresses but I didn't feel overwhelmed by the choice something I had experienced in other boutiques.
When I found the dress I instantly knew this would be the one for me, I was advised by Caroline to return for a second fit to make sure I was 100% sure before placing my order and at that appointment, Caroline also helped me pick a veil to compliment the dress and a matching tiara.”
Rachel will happily say that all the suppliers they chose were fab, and really helpful when planning, they simply can’t single one out.
Favourite part of the day
“I don’t think I can single one part of our day out, the whole thing ran smoothly without any hiccups - much to our surprise. The stress leading up to it was all worth it!!”
