Stennack Farm Victoria and Ricky

WHO NEEDS MAURITIUS WHEN YOU CAN HAVE STENNACK FARM?

After having their Mauritius wedding cancelled due to COVID, Victoria and Ricky didn't know what they wanted until they visited Stennack Farm. They were taken on a tour of the venue with owner Caroline, and they loved it!

"We knew that a farm-style wedding with country rolling-hills surrounding the venue was perfect. We stayed in the barn for the week, running up to the wedding, which was lovely.

Lizzie Churchill Photography

"We were lucky enough to have Lizzie as our photography; her relaxing, natural, candid approach was everything we could have wished for. We have memories captured that we can truly cherish for years to come."

THE THEME

Victoria and Ricky didn't have a specific theme but wished for a laid back, rustic feel to their celebrations. With their day also restricted to only 15 meant that they could create an intimate and relaxed day. Caroline arranged the flowers and they suited the venue beautifully, giving their ceremony and reception a stunning autumnal feel.

Flowers by Louise at Lou Lou Belles

The brief was Autumnal country, and Stennack Barn lends itself so well for this style. Louise chose wild hedgerow foliage such as ferns and ivy, arranged together with dried hydrangeas to create a 22 ft long garland which was then wrapped around the beams of the barn. Old milk churns added to the country feel using the hedgerow foliage with pampas grasses to create a natural seasonal look.

Victorias hand-tied bouquet was also designed to coordinate with the wild hedgerow foliage theme. Louise arranged a delightful blend of orange coloured roses, dried scabious seed pods, ferns, and Craspedia to make the bouquet extra special.

The barn had candles, table runners, jam jars filled with flowers and garlands packed with country foliage to complete the theme.

LOUISE OF LOU LOU BELLES

"It was so pleasing to see the venue look so beautiful. I can't wait to do more wedding flowers at this delightful venue!"

Planning during Covid

"Stennack helped us to navigate through the planning a wedding at an extremely difficult time. They arranged for us to go to a nearby beach on a tractor which an incredible addition to our day!!"

The Aussie Smoker

Ricky, the groom, is a great chef and Adam of The Aussie Smoker has been fortunate enough to be a volunteer at a few charity events where he got to work with Ricky. So when it came to his wedding feast, there was only one choice for Ricky. Good quality Aussie tucka from The Aussie Smoker!

It was a little wet on the day, something you think would be an issue for a BBQ caterer. Not for Adam! He has specially designed hot holding boxes allowing the food to be made at their BBQ HQ, aka The Outback and transported if required with no reduction in quality or flavour to the venue.

On the menu

12 hour smoked pulled pork, bbq chicken thighs, Aussie style mac 'n' cheese, what, no bacon?! Beans, vibrant and tangy slaw, Adams mum's summer carrot salad, and for dessert, glorious chocolate brownie with Cornish clotted cream and seasonal fruit.

"The Aussie Smoker came up with the goods! It was fab!"

The dress

Victoria's dress was an A-line shape with a sweetheart neckline. It had lace detail with a few sparkles fading down.

The Groom

Ricky wore grey chinos with a blue chequered tweed waistcoat and navy blue blazer jacket. He chose a plain white shirt and had brown leather boots as well as his wellies on hand.

Accessories

"I accessorised with my mum's pearl earrings and bracelet. I also had a personalised denim jacket which was perfect for the weather. I also had matching pink wellingtons with my flower girls and bridesmaid."

FAVOURITE PARTS

"There are so many, too many for us to chose from but ultimately, my favourite part of the day was marrying my soulmate!! My husband agrees, but his highlight of the day was taking the tractor down to the beach!"

ADVISE

"I think it's important to try and enjoy every second of getting married, from the engagement to after the wedding. It's very easy to become stressed and overwhelmed. Make sure you make time to spend together, just you and your husband, on your wedding day. The day is over before you know it."
